Good Fit PR!!
I could not be more excited to announce that for the past few weeks I have been fortunate enough to have been in contact with GoodFit PR! GoodFit PR is a public relations company in Australia which promotes a healthy lifestyle and offers all different kinds of services.
Sarah Thompson, the director of the company, was extremely helpful and was able to answer a few questions I had! Additionally, she sent me a Q&A which you can find on their website:
http://www.goodfitpr.com/news/health-and-fitness-in-puerto-rico
How
did you come up with the idea for GoodFitPr? Also, where did you start once you
knew what you wanted?
I started GFPR because I want to contribute to
making the world a healthier place.
I have always been interested in the media,
writing and communication. When I was younger, I obsessively collected teen and
music magazines. I had all the posters and have loved pop culture ever since. Even
though so much of the media is online now, I still get overly excited when I go
into a big newsagent with lots of magazines.
After trying journalism, event management and
marketing, I decided PR offered the right combination of skills and knowledge for
me. That’s a lot of writing, talking, networking, knowing about the latest cool
health and fitness trends and caring about global health and development.
Sarah Thompson - Director of GoodFit PR
How
have you seen GoodFitPR evolve over time?
The business has evolved from being just me to
a team of caring, clever, dedicated people who share my passion for living
actively. Whenever we have meetings to discuss campaign ideas I'm always amazed
by them. It's still a small team, but we really care about what we do a lot,
which makes all the difference.
We all like fitness and eat whole foods in our
own way - my team includes a personal trainer, pole dance instructor,
yogi, basketballer and I'm the hula hooper!
Do
you feel over the last few years people have become much more concerned about
their wellbeing and health? If so, how has it affected your business?
I think increased awareness about wellbeing is
a macro trend that is affecting the whole world, and people are certainly
starting to participate more in learning about it.
I deal with a lot of people every day who are
already motivated and making informed decisions about their health, but we
aren’t the majority. Unfortunately, Australia is the most overweight country in
the world, and modern day epidemics that are preventable, like obesity, are
killing more people than ever before.
To me, there’s a long way to make living
healthily accessible to everyone,
regardless of where they are in the world or how much money they have. I
would really like to see that change. That’s what GoodFit PR is about.
What
is your daily inspiration?
That’s a tough question! I find so many things
inspiring every day – my friends, family and colleagues.
The people who I admire are the ones who work
hard at their vision every day, because they believe in what they’re doing.
They might not get noticed for a long time, they may not win a race, they’re
not on reality TV and people might doubt them.
I am always inspired when I hear about someone
who has remained dedicated to from the outset and is still going
John Foss (Founder of The Chia Co), Shannon
Dooley (Founder of Retrosweat), and Steph Prem (Founder of Premium Performance)
and just a few of the amazing people I’m fortunate to have worked with, but
there are many more!

How
do you find balance between your work & personal life? What do you love to
do on your free time?
Ugh - It is so hard! I think it’s part of being
passionate about what you do – sometimes you can’t stop!
I keep myself sane with these few things:
· Do
workouts I enjoy – Exercise that makes me smile and forget everything else – at
least 3 times a week. For me, that’s aerobics, weights training and cardio
sessions at the gym with a very loud playlist. I love to go for long walks, like
the Brondi-Bronte in Sydney, and I also
don’t own a car, so I walk every day.
· Make
time to talk to people – It might seem obvious, but sometimes when I catch
myself worrying that I’m spending too long having a conversation (e.g. with a
colleague about last night’s TV news stories or the local café owner about a
sandwich), I remember that I’m human. Conversation sets us apart from robots!
· Get
advice – One of the best pieces of advice I’ve received is to focus on doing
the things that you enjoy and come naturally to you, and ask other people for
help with the rest. There are experts in every area, so work alongside them
rather than trying to do everything!

That White Shirt!
One of the best feelings in the world is finding the perfect white shirt! Once you spot that shirt in a store you feel like you can accomplish anything. It is one of those pieces that matches every single thing in your closet and no matter how many times you wear it, it never gets old. You receive countless complements on how beautiful it is and no matter how bad a day you are having that white shirt can always put a smile on your face!

Fall Must-Haves!
For each season I have a different list of must haves. Fall and winter are more of a cozy time for people. It's a period in which people are more of a home body. They go out less and are happy just staying home and watching TV. Here are a list of my must-haves for Fall:
1. A Bucket Bag- it is so nice having a bag
1. A Bucket Bag- it is so nice having a bag which holds everything you need. When you're body can't decide whether it is hot or cold it is the perfect bag to hold your gloves and scarf. It is also super easy to open and close.
2. Platform sneaker- sneakers are the go to comfortable shoe. After having feet problems over the years I have learned the hard way why sneakers are so amazing. Not only are sneakers comfortable but also now come in every style imaginable. They match all types of outfits and sometimes even come with a platform! How amazing are the sneakers below?
3. Sunglasses- although it isn't Summer anymore that doesn't mean the sun magically disappeared from the earth. Sunglasses are the perfect accessory with a winter jacket and jeans. They make you look fabulous without even trying.
4. Leather leggings- all you see for the next few months are leggings. They match almost everything and are so comfortable you never want to take them off. Leggings aren't just plain black anymore but come in all different prints and materials. Leather leggings are definitely my favorites, while they are easy to wear they are also perfect with a nice blazer and a pair of heels.
5. Matching set of pajamas- after a long day there is no better feeling than changing into your pajamas.
6. Body Scrub- with the cold weather it is only natural for your skin to get much more dry. Just because you aren't wearing shorts anymore doesn't mean you should stop caring about your skin. Try to make time once a week to exfoliate your skin with a scrub and you'll see how much better your skin will look!
7. Scarf- somehow during the next few months you can look at yourself in the mirror and notice you are only wearing black. A printed scarf is a great way to change up your outfit a little bit. Additionally, they do wonders at keeping you warm and can be worn so many different ways.
8. Coconut Oil- instead of using body lotion I prefer to use coconut oil as my daily moisturizer. Every day after showering I use a little bit throughout my entire body. It keeps you skin soft and makes it glow. e
